Studying here is the first step toward citizenship for many newcomers to Canada. Post-graduate employment permits are available to graduates of Canadian colleges and universities. This means you may be eligible to stay in Canada after graduation and gain Canadian job experience that can be used to support a future Permanent Residence application.

You must be accepted into a designated learning institution and have sufficient funds to cover your expenses throughout your stay in Canada to study in Canada.

Students from specific countries may be eligible for the Student Direct Stream to process their Study Permits. Students from China, India, Vietnam, and the Philippines who demonstrate that they have the financial resources and language ability to excel academically in Canada will have their applications processed more quickly.

Students enrolled in recognized programmes may work part-time throughout the school year and full-time during regularly arranged study vacations
